The question is whether one can see graffiti art or vandalism often and usually the students working on school reports … and rather strong opinions. This is actually a two-part question: 1 Part. Graffiti art? and 2 Part. Graffiti vandalism?
1. Part A – Is Graffiti Art?
I think the first important that the “art” to understand in itself difficult to define. But if you move through the formal definitions, typically expresses itself in art, or a message that an artist tries to give the viewer … and you may not rely on other people. Others believe that art is perhaps a manifestation of the artist uses colors, textures, sounds, etc. of the message. Let’s look at a few pieces of the known art.
1. The Mona Lisa Leonardo DaVinci. This is a piece of wood painted and framed. Why is this art? Shading, the depth of the landscape, the enigmatic smile, etc. Maybe this is art, when painted on a wall in a side street in Italy? Sure. What makes it art is the image, not the medium.
2. Guernica Pablo Picasso. This may be the most famous works of Picasso. Fresco size of a piece of cloth. Of course, this is art. Art would be like Picasso painted directly on the wall side of a street? Yes. What if he is without a license? More art … but painted illegally. Like it? … and it does not matter whether or not, is still an art.
3. Michel Angelo’s Sistine Chapel. This is art, and this is the last.
Graffiti art style of the art. The “fit” and often speaks to the Bill set out a very clear message to the artist (for example, look at the political messages Banksy). Work of art painted in this style is not necessarily considered art. It can be painted on wood, canvas, ceilings, brick walls, sidewalks, etc. It is still art, what the medium.
2. Part – Graffiti vandalism? If street art (graffiti) is legally colored, which means that the property of the artist or with the consent of the owner, the legal street art.
If art is painted on the street is illegal means that the property is not owned by the artist, without permission, then it’s art … but the artist had committed the crime of vandalism.
So you were like a Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Picasso hanging 115 Tuesday night on the street and throw one of the Mona Lisa, Guernica and the Sistine Chapel’s art on the side of a laundry … It is art. But it is vandalism. It can be … this is not an “either-or” question.
